The Medical Assessment & Rating Board of National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued Letter of Permission for starting Churachandpur Medical College under Manipur University with an annual intake of 100 MBBS seats for the academic year 2022-2023.
According to the Letter of Permission signed by the MARB Member President, the permission for starting the MBBS course and admission of students will be for such time the first batch of students admitted against the course appears for the final examination in the subject. The college authorities may take up the matter for recognition of the qualification under section 35(2) of the IMC Act at the time of first batch admitted against the sanctioned intake of final examination with the National Medical Commission.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister N Biren has expressed happiness over getting the Letter of Permission for the 100 MBBS seats of the new medical college.
Chief Minister N Biren tweeted the news, “In yet another great news for the State, I have just received the Letter of Permission for 100 MBBS Seats for Churachandpur Medical College. With this permission being granted, we can start the admissions process. This is how our PM Narendra Modi Ji shows his love and affection for the people of Manipur. It was only a few weeks ago that we have received the Letter of Intent and after fulfilling the formalities, the permission has been granted today. Under PM Modi Ji’s leadership, development cannot take a back seat, come what may”.
It also informed that the institution is fully responsible to fulfill and maintain norms including the infrastructure both physical and human resource, teaching faculty and clinical material etc. throughout the academic year, as stipulated in Regulation of National Medical Commission (NMC). In case false/wrong declaration or fabricated documents have been used for procuring permission of the MARB and the misconduct is brought to the notice of National Medical Commission (NMC) or found during surprise assessment at any stage during the current academic year, the medical college is liable not be considered for recognition of the degree. This letter of permission will be revoked for the current academic year if such exigency arises.
Besides, the National Medical Commission (NMC) is entitled to take all such measures against the College/institution as permissible under the law, it maintained.
The letter further stated that it is mandatory to develop a biometric attendance, website on the medical college/institution and display all the information of the college, courses offered, faculty available and their experience of the last five years, students joined, and affiliating university. It also instructed to display the hospital services, facilities available and the equipment in each specialty, apart from showing OP and IP census including births and deaths as per the municipal/Govt. records.
