On Wednesday, Chief Minister N Biren launched a GPS-enabled Highway Patrol which will ply from Pallel to Moreh on NH-102 in Tengnoupal district.
In a Twitter post, the chief minister informed that the highway patrol will cover a stretch of 60 km.
“Launched the GPS Enabled Patrol which will ply from Pallel to Moreh on NH-102 in Tengnoupal, covering a stretch of 60 km. The govt. will ensure that all necessary measures are taken up to secure the highway. This highway is also the gateway to South East Asian countries.” CM Biren wrote on his Twitter account.
The first GPS enabled patrol vehicles in Manipur were deployed on NH-2 from Mao to Kanglatongbi.
On May 13, DGP P Doungel flagged off the first eight dedicated GPS-enabled patrol vehicles at Senapati to further secure the National Highway-2, to cover the stretch from Mao, Senapati to Gamgiphai, Kangpokpi district.
As per the chief minister, people in need of help can dial 9612700785 to contact the patrol unit on Imphal-Dimapur road and 8794427656 for the Imphal-Moreh road unit.
