Autodesk recently launched AI Tools to help boost efficiency. Autodesk AI tools are accessible to enhance creative problem-solving and exploration, automate monotonous and repetitive tasks, and provide individuals and teams with robust analysis tools to facilitate decision-making.
Autodesk AI plays a pivotal role in aiding construction teams by enabling them to predict and prevent risks, enhance decision-making processes, save time through assistive workflows, and access project information more efficiently and at earlier stages.
Autodesk CEO and president, Andrew Anagnost, announced the introduction of Autodesk AI tools during the company’s Design and Make conference. The focus is on addressing the massive capacity problems faced by industries like architecture, manufacturing, and media. These industries struggle with limited funds, labor shortages, and insufficient materials to meet the demands for construction and reconstruction. The goal of Autodesk AI tools is to assist these industries in building more efficiently by adopting artificial intelligence.
The new AI-powered products unveiled by Autodesk offer generative design capabilities and intelligent assistance for tasks such as building, product design, and 3D modeling. Andrew Anagnost emphasized the importance of helping companies “build more with less” by automating processes, generating data, and creating sophisticated 3D models. This enables customers to work faster, more cost-effectively, and with fewer materials.
Autodesk AI tools also provide predictive insights and analyze complex sustainability projections, significantly reducing development cycles from months to weeks. Anagnost highlighted the industry’s “massive capacity problems” and expressed the company’s commitment to easing these strains on overwhelmed teams through AI.
Newly launched Autodesk AI Tools
Autodesk has recently launched several AI-powered tools, including the Autodesk AI Lab. The lab, established in 2018, conducts fundamental and applied research in AI and machine learning, aiming to unlock a new era of AI-powered design tools for customers. Notable projects from the lab include CLIP-Forge, which generates 3D voxelized models based on spoken descriptions, and JoinABLe, which automates the assembly of CAD joints.
Another tool, Autodesk Forma, is an AI-driven solution that simplifies design concept exploration, offloads repetitive tasks, and evaluates environmental qualities around a building site. These tools reflect Autodesk’s commitment to enhancing user experience and productivity through AI integration.
Autodesk Forma, a cloud-based software designed for early-stage planning and design, boasts several key features. It equips planning and design teams to kickstart projects digitally, providing conceptual design capabilities, predictive analytics, and automation that lay solid foundations for projects.
The software also offers real-time analytics, utilizing AI-powered analyses to uncover in-depth insights into the site and its surroundings, covering factors such as sun hours, daylight potential, noise, wind, and microclimate. Furthermore, Autodesk Forma allows users to unlock efficiencies through intuitive project setup, design automation, and seamless connectivity with Revit.
Andrew Anagnost highlighted the urgent need to build the equivalent of 2.6 trillion square feet of new real estate over the next 40 years, likening it to adding a New York City to the world every month. To address this massive capacity problem, Autodesk aims to help industries make better decisions early in the design process, streamlining processes that once took months down to weeks.
Autodesk AI tools will also empower artists in the media and entertainment industry to concentrate on their craft. As the demand for high-quality content on streaming services rises, production costs are increasing.
To address this challenge, the emphasis is on enhancing efficiency without reducing the number of artists. Autodesk Flow, for instance, enables producers to automatically generate schedules, a task that would traditionally take weeks to months.
The AI can also adapt schedules in real-time as new shots are introduced or others are removed, ensuring optimal resource utilization. The goal is not to replace jobs but to help studios overcome capacity issues and maximize output from existing resources.
