Bungie has announced that a fix for the two bugged Exotic weapons in Destiny 2, namely Quicksilver Storm and Touch of Malice, will be included in an upcoming update scheduled for release this week.
These weapons were previously found to be dealing less damage than intended against minor enemies, a particularly problematic issue given the time-sensitive nature of this season’s Artifact mods, which are compatible with Quicksilver Storm.
Players have also reported dealing less damage with Quicksilver Storm after equipping its catalyst, which changes the weapon’s damage type to Strand. While it is unclear if this trade-off was intended or not, the upcoming update should make the weapon more viable overall.
Quicksilver Storm is a versatile Exotic weapon of Destiny 2 that can transform from a Kinetic-slot auto rifle into a grenade launcher and can also fire homing rockets.
However, since the launch of the Destiny 2 Lightfall expansion, it has lost its 40% damage boost against red bar enemies, making it difficult to recommend for more challenging activities like Legend lost sectors and Master Nightfalls.
Despite the Exotic catalyst, which changes Quicksilver Storm’s damage type to Strand and can potentially pair well with the new subclass and seasonal artifact mods, the auto rifle is currently less effective in high-level content.
The Nano-entanglement perk, which creates Tangles from final blows using the grenade launcher mode, is also less useful in its current state.
While issues with Exotic weapons in Destiny 2 are not uncommon, the urgency of the situation with Quicksilver Storm lies in the limited time available to take advantage of the Artifact mods.
Bungie has acknowledged the issue since launch day but has not provided a clear explanation for the problem. Nonetheless, the upcoming update to fix the two bugged Exotic weapons should bring much-needed fixes to this complicated weapon.
