Imphal (SPN) | MP Sanajaoba draws the attention of the Upper House of the Parliament for the inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in ST list yesterday. Sanajaoba moves the Rajya Sabha to include ethnic communities under Article 342(1) of the Indian Constitution.
He concludes that since 2013 Meetei/Meitei has made several representations to the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Home Minister, Tribal Affairs Minister, and other Central leaders in this matter.
However, till today the demands have not been taken seriously by the center. MP also said that unless they are not provided with a Constitutional safeguard, Meetei/Meitei shall be reduced to a minority community.
He also alerted that Meetei/Meitei might become a refugee in their own land. MP Sanajaoba also requested the government to kindly take necessary action and instruct the State government to follow the needful.
