Charlotte Wells got the Best Director Awards for Aftersun at the  British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) 2022.

Also added to the list of accolades were awards for best screenplay, best debut director, best cinematography, best editing and best music supervision.

The film spans a 20-year period, beginning with 11-year-old Sophie (Frankie Corio) on a father-daughter vacation to Turkey and culminating with her reflection on that experience in adulthood.
