On Friday, Chief Minister N Biren announced that nine officials of the Revenue Department in Manipur have been suspended for manipulating land records.

The officials include Kh. Goverdhon Singh, Samson Huidrom, G. Chinglensana Kabui, M. Sanatomba Singh, L. Biswanath Singh, Md. Hassan, T. Hemjit Singh, O. Munal Singh, and Md. Jahangir.

During a press briefing at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, N Biren discussed issues related to the illegal transfer of land, the issuance of patta at forest and government land, illegal manufacturing of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) at Khongjom, and forest fires at the hill range of Kongba Maru Laiphamlen.

Biren stated that the government is taking measures to address these issues, which have been major causes of the deteriorating condition of the state.

He emphasized that governance is not just about infrastructure development, but also about activities that benefit future generations and preserve the environment.

Biren instructed all state government officials to serve sincerely and dedicatedly, avoid committing any wrongful activity, and voluntarily come forward to rectify any previous wrongdoing before legal action is taken against them.

Regarding the illegal manufacturing of IMFL, Biren informed that the Khongjom Police Station conducted a search operation at the residence of Thokchom Bobo Singh and arrested three individuals, including Thokchom Bobo Singh, Thokchom (O) Bino Devi, and Thokchom (O) Achoubi Devi, for their involvement in manufacturing IMFL.

He condemned such activities that cause serious health hazards to the people and stressed the need for coordinated work between the judiciary and executives to stop unlawful activities and save the state from their ill effects.

Biren also announced that a team from Sagolmang Police Station had arrested three individuals for their involvement in setting fire to the hill range of Kongba Maru. A case has been registered against them under relevant sections for further investigation and legal action.

During the press briefing, Information and Public Relations Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan, Education Minister Th. Basanta Kumar, Secretary (Revenue) Namoijam Kheda Varta, and other senior government officials were present.
