Annual Cheithaba Laithou of Sana Konung to take place

As part of the customary rituals of the Meitei community, the annual Cheithaba Laithou thouram is set to take place on March 22, 2023, at the Uttra Shanglen of Sana Konung.

According to a press release from the Uttra Shanglen Sana Konung in Imphal, Thoudam Indrajit, a 70-year-old from Khurai Thoudam Leikai, son of late Thoudam Biramani, will be the 540th Cheithaba, succeeding the current 539th Cheithaba Laishram Jyaneshwar.

The outgoing Cheithaba Jyaneshwar will hand over the cudgel to the newly appointed Cheithaba Thoudam Indrajit during the Cheithaba Laithou thouram.

The public is invited to attend the auspicious ceremony of Cheithaba Laithou, where the Maharaja of Manipur, Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba, Phamnaiba, Maiba, Maibi, Pena, Sana Pala, and Thang Ta Loishang will perform the Cheithaba Laithou thouram of Shajibu Nongma Panba at Uttra Shanglen, Sana Konung.

Publicity of Sana Konung, Laishram Poireiton also mentioned that the holy water from Laipham will be available one day before the Shajibu Nongma Panba. Visitors are requested to obtain the water from Uttra Shanglen.
