Imphal/ August 5, 2013 (SPN) | According to the statement issued by the Assam Rifles, the creation of a buffer zone has yielded positive outcomes, notably the absence of major firing incidents since July 12, 2023.
This initiative has instilled a sense of security among farmers from both communities, encouraging them to resume farming activities in the area.
The Assam Rifles troops have been strategically positioned at National Sports University (NSU) and Munli village, situated in the foothills of Kadangband, Koutruk, Senjam Chirang, and Kanto Sabal.
The purpose of this deployment is to establish a buffer zone between the village defense volunteers stationed on hilltops and the village Meitei defense volunteers.
The Assam Rifles also vehemently denied the claims published by ‘The Sangai Express’ on August 1, accusing the organization of supporting Kuki miscreants in the Kadangband region. In a firm statement, the Assam Rifles clarified its position and actions in the area.
The Assam Rifles has also been actively cooperating with the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and the local Police in dismantling bunkers manned by armed miscreants, irrespective of their community affiliations.
The joint efforts of these forces have resulted in the destruction of a total of 37 bunkers in the region. Out of these, 15 bunkers belonged to Meitei, while 22 belonged to Kuki. This underscores the Assam Rifles’ commitment to impartiality and fairness.
The organization expressed profound concern over unverified and baseless allegations from village defense volunteers and various media outlets regarding the Assam Rifles’ alleged support of Kuki miscreants.
The Assam Rifles emphasized its dedication to maintaining peace and security in the region, and its actions speak to this commitment.
The organization’s proactive measures in establishing a buffer zone and neutralizing bunkers underscore its role as a responsible and unbiased force in the area.
The Assam Rifles’ efforts align with its mission to ensure the safety and well-being of all communities in the region, regardless of their backgrounds or affiliations.
