Manipur CM N Biren was touched and got emotional after meeting Meetei in Tripura. He said that it was a highly rewarding and enriching experience.
CM N Biren tweeted, “Interacting with the Meetei community at Tripura was a highly rewarding & enriching experience. Meeting my own kind who had been settling in another state was also touching and filled my heart with happiness. We must try to preserve the bonds, the shared values & our history.”
Chief Minister N Biren has assured that the State Government will complete the Manipuri Cultural Centre in Tripura for which former Chief Minister RK Jaichandra laid the foundation stone in 1988. CM N Biren also said that the present government is also planning to construct a Manipur Bhawan in Tripura.
N Biren continued the tweet, “Indeed a blessing to offer prayers at Lainingthou Puthiba Temple & also interact with the people. We will complete the Manipur Cultural Centre, which former CM RK Jaichandra Singh, laid the foundation stone in 1998 & we are planning to construct a Manipur Bhawan at Tripura.”
N Biren made the assurance while interacting with Meetei in Tripura after he offered prayers at Lainingthou Puthiba Temple in Tripura on Monday.
Last year, in April 2022, the Meetei in Tripura urged the Manipur government for setting up a Manipur Bhavan in Tripura. In order to protect the identity of Meetei and Meetei Pangal settling in five districts of Tripura and convenience for Manipuris visiting Tripura, Puthiba Welfare & Cultural Society, Abhoynagar has urged the government of Manipur to exert pressure for setting up a Manipur Bhavan or guest house in Tripura.
BJP National leader Dr. Sambit Patra and CAF&PD Minister Leishangthem Susindro Meitei were also present at the occasion.
Earlier, Chief Minister Biren and Assam Chief Minister Hemanta Biswa Sarma accompanied their counterpart Manik Saha in filing the nomination papers for the upcoming Tripura Assembly elections.
