Covid positivity rate rises in Manipur

Within a week, the covid positivity rate rises once more, crossing 13 percent every day. As the State has intensified daily testing with the detection of disturbing new cases, altogether 77 persons from the general population were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases among 568 samples tested in the last 24 hours. However, the covid positivity rate has declined to 13.6 percent. Although 25 persons were discharged in a single day, the recovery rate has dipped to 98.23 percent. The death toll remained static at 2120 as the State continued to maintain a no-death streak.

As divulged by Covid-19 Common Control Room, the positive cases were confirmed at RIMS (3), JNIMS (5) and other testing centres (69). The fresh cases from the general population are from Imphal East (12), Imphal West (46), Thoubal (3), Bishnupur (3), Kakching (4), Senapati (1), Ukhrul (2), Kangpokpi (2), Churachandpur (1) and Chandel (3). All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

In the last 24 hours, the State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported nil cases of death. The cumulative number of deaths stayed unmoved at 2120. A total of 25 persons were discharged in a span of 24 hours after having recovered from the contagious infection. They were from Home Isolation (19), RIMS (2), JNIMS (1) and Shija (3), the control room informed in its bulletin.

While the cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,37,690 (General Population-1,32,676 and Central Security Personnel-5,014), the cumulative number of recovered cases stood at 1,35,250 (General Population-1,30,243 and Central Security Personnel-5,007). With the confirmation of 77 new cases in the last 24 hours, the number of active cases has touched 320 (General Population- 320 and Central Security Personnel-0).

As on Wednesday, a total of 99 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 19 B-type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health facilities of the State. The number of doses of Covid-19 vaccine administered on Wednesday is 2671.
