With a mission to promote the age old bonding among the indigenous people of the region, eleven Tangkhul villages in Kamjong district vows to work with Federation of Haomee (FOH). On 23 April, a meeting was convened at Chakama village where 11 Khullakpa (Head) and village authority pledge to work with FOH.
The function was organised with a mission for Know your identity. Khullakpas from Nungthar, Maryland, Ringpam, Kharam, Horton,Tangkhul Khullen, Somiriphei,Somrei, Somcharam, Chakama and Komlaching villages in Kamjong district attended the event.
Shangpun Long (SP), an apex body of these 11 Tangkhul villages’ chairman T Ningchui Chitlung, Federation of Haomee president Sapamcha Jadumani, Khullakpa of Chakama S Ningthar and FOH Vice President Dr Meera Kabui graced the function.
The meeting vowed to work togther in protecting and preserving the indigenous tribes having yek salai. They also promised that Tangkhul will also play a vital role in the campaign against illegal migrants in the state.
The body is serious about the fate of indigenous people’s political rights which are controlled by outsiders.
