Govt ready for Manipur Sangai Festival Extravaganza

CM N Biren launched promotional campaign for Manipur Sangai Festival 2022.

Chief Minister N Biren launched Manipur Tourism’s promotional campaign ‘Experiencing Manipur Sangai Festival 2022’ at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Friday, in connection with the upcoming Manipur Sangai Festival 2022.

The campaign focused on boosting tourist arrival figures in the State during the State’s biggest tourism festival. It emphasizes highlighting the unique cultural diversity of the State and its tourist attractions.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister stated that the State Government is making arrangements to organise the events of the Manipur Sangai Festival at 13 places across the State. Expressing the beauty of the State inhabited by different communities, he welcomed everyone to come and experience the extravaganza of the Sangai Festival which will be organised under the theme ‘Festival of Oneness’.

CM Biren tweeted, “Officially launched the media campaign of The Manipur Sangai Festival 2022 which will be held from 21st November. Preparation for the grand tourism festival of Manipur. The state government and the people of Manipur are ready to welcome tourists from all over the world.”

Biren informed that the festival will be organised at different places across the State with the aim of connecting different communities of the State. Different events will be organised at different venues including the Sangai Ethnic Park at Moirang Khunou, Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre and Hafta Kangjeibung, Ibudhou Marjing at Heingang, Mapal Kangjeibung and Kangla Polo Ground, Mao, Khuman Lampak, Manipur State Film Development Society, Behiang and Khuga at Churachandpur, Makhel, Food Park at Nilakuthi, Koirengei and City Convention Centre, he added. He also informed that the Government is planning to open Kangkhui Cave before the festival.

Mentioning that many Ambassadors and foreign diplomats had given confirmation for visiting the State to witness this year’s edition of the Manipur Sangai Festival, he appealed to the people of Manipur to extend a welcoming attitude and hospitality to visiting tourists. This will make a good impression on the State, he added.

He further appealed not to dump garbage at the roadside and put them in proper places for collection by concerned authorities. He also urged the public to refrain from bandhs and blockades which will give hardship to all people and create a bad image of the State.

Chairman, Tourism Corporation of Manipur Limited Karam Shyam, Additional Chief Secretary V. Vumlunmang, Commissioner (Tourism) P.K. Jha and Director (Tourism) W. Ibohal also attended the programme among others.

The festival will witness various events including a fashion show, Sangai run, tourism pavilion, flower show, indigenous cultural programmes, handloom and handicrafts, Arambai show, Mukna, Yubi Lakpi, International Polo Tournament, CM’s Sagol Kangjei Championship, Film screening and Mixed Martial Arts among others.

Recently, the Curtain raiser event was held at Kolkata for the much-anticipated ‘Manipur Sangai Festival 2022’, a tourism extravaganza promoting the beauty and rich cultural legacy of Manipur at City Centre Salt Lake. Within the State, the curtain-raiser events of the Manipur Sangai Festival 2022 will be held at Behiang, Khuga and Makhel while the opening ceremony will be held at Moirang Khunou where the festival will continue for 10 days.

The unique Manipur Sangai Festival 2022, also called the ‘Festival of Oneness’, organised by the Department of Tourism, Government of Manipur is scheduled to be held from November 21 to 30 and aims to showcase the best of Manipur.

The closing ceremony of the Manipur Sangai Festival 2022 will be held at BOAT whereas activities and facilities in these two venues include cultural shows, performances by troupes from various states and countries, departmental stalls, foreign stalls, food stalls, children’s entertainment programme and activities, meet the star programme, literature meet, flower show.
