Indri, a smoky Indian single malt has recently earned the prestigious title of “Best in Show, Double Gold” at the Whiskies of the World Awards. This win is a testament to the quality and the growing popularity of Indian single malts across the globe.

This remarkable achievement surpasses the recognition of numerous Scotch whiskies, Bourbons, and other renowned malts. The peated expression, crafted by Piccadilly Distilleries, undergoes an extended maturation period in wine casks, resulting in each sip delivering a symphony of flavors, including chocolate, fruit, and nuts.

The Indri Diwali Collector’s Edition 2023 received the coveted ‘Double Gold Best In Show’ award in one of the world’s largest whisky-tasting competitions. This event sees over 100 varieties of whiskies from around the world competing annually.

Indri’s Single Malt Trini had previously garnered recognition at the Tokyo Whiskey and Spirits Competition 2023, the Fifty Best World Whiskies 2022 Award, the International Whisky Competition in Las Vegas, and was featured in the Whisky Advocate’s Top 20 Whiskies of the World list.

The Whiskies of the World Awards employs a rigorous blind tasting process conducted over several rounds, spanning various categories. A panel comprising influential figures in the alcohol beverage industry declares the best whisky in each class.

This smoky Indian single malt whisky triumphed over hundreds of international brands, including American single malts, Scotch whiskies, Bourbons, Canadian whiskies, Australian single malts, and British single malts.

Delving into the craftsmanship behind the Diwali Collector’s Edition, Indri provided further details: “Indri Diwali Collector’s Edition 2023 is a peated Indian single malt made with six-row barley, distilled in traditional copper pot stills crafted in India.

Carefully matured in PX Sherry Casks for a significantly long time amidst the sub-tropical climate of North India, this unique expression entices you with a whiff of smoke and awakens your senses to a myriad of flavors such as candied dried fruits, toasted nuts, subtle spices, oak, bittersweet chocolate, and more.”

Meticulously created in the Himalayan foothills, this smoky Indian single malt utilizes six-row barley, carefully handpicked in Rajasthan, where it has thrived for centuries. The whisky benefits from the pristine glacier water of the Yamuna River.

It undergoes distillation in traditional Indian copper-pot stills and matures in Pedro Ximenez (PX) Sherry Casks for an extended duration. This aging imparts a rich, dark amber hue to the whisky, infusing it with sweet, currant-like undertones.
