New York City/ October 04, 2023 (SPN) | Today is an exciting day for Google fans as Pixel 8 which is a new AI Powered Phone will be unveiled by Google in their annual event. At this event, they’re expected to reveal the Pixel 8, 8 Pro, and Pixel Watch 2. This isn’t a big surprise because Google often unveils its new Pixel devices during its October events.
The event is happening on Wednesday, October 4th, at 10 a.m. Eastern Time (7 a.m. Pacific Time, 3 p.m. British Time, 1 a.m. Australian Eastern Standard Time). It’s taking place in New York, but you can watch it live on Google’s YouTube channel.
The starting price for the Pixel 8 is expected to be $699, while the Pixel 8 Pro may begin at $999. This represents a $100 increase for both models compared to last year’s prices, but the technology is a great update, now, Pixel phone fans will have the AI Powered Phone.
The new phones have an interesting tagline: “Meet the new Pixel phones, featuring the most advanced Pixel cameras yet, and Google’s AI Powered Phone to help you do more, even faster.”
While Pixel phones have always used AI and machine learning to some extent, this hint suggests that AI will play a bigger role this time. What’s intriguing is that Google’s first glimpses emphasize how the phones look rather than what they can do.
In a video that appears to have been leaked, there’s a demonstration of some new camera features powered by “Google AI controlled by you.” These features include better video stabilization, the ability to take great photos in low light at night, and improved sound isolation when recording videos.
One especially cool feature shown in the video is the ability to turn blurry faces into clear and focused ones, all thanks to the Pixel 8. If this is indeed the result of Google’s AI Powered Phone, it’s quite fascinating.
The Pixel 8 continues to be the smaller phone, while the Pixel 8 Pro is larger and has a telephoto camera. Both phones are shown in carnation pink and white in Google’s teaser video, and they look sleeker with smoother, rounder edges compared to the older models.
According to leaked specs, both Google phones share the same main 48-megapixel camera but have differences elsewhere. The new phone has a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera, while the 8 Pro boasts a 50-megapixel one with a new macro focus mode. Both phones have a 10.5-megapixel front-facing camera, but the 8 Pro’s selfie camera can focus, unlike the Pixel 8’s fixed focus. The 8 Pro also adds a third rear camera—a telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom.
Regarding the screens, the Pixel 8 has a 6.2-inch display, a tad smaller than the 6.3-inch one on the Pixel 7. What’s interesting is that the Pixel 8’s screen now has a faster refresh rate of 120Hz, an improvement from the Pixel 7’s 90Hz. Both phones are expected to come equipped with Google’s Tensor G3 chip.
Another unique feature is the built-in thermometer. This could have useful health-related uses. The idea is that the 8 Pro could measure temperature without direct contact, similar to what the 2020 Honor 4 Play Pro did with a similar sensor. This feature could add more health-related capabilities to the phone.
