A 17-member Koubru expedition team from Lainingthou Sanamahi Thougal Lup, Napat, Bishnupur District, was flagged off by the Vice President of Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board (LSTB), Wakhal Lamjingba today.
The expedition, led by Athokpam Abung, is set to reach the peak of Ipa Koubru and Ima Imoinu in the Koubru mountains.
In a press release issued by Maisnam Shivdutta Luwang, Member Secretary of Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board, Haying Khongban, Uphong Yumfam, Imphal, it was stated that the team would offer prayers at the holy shrine, which is regarded as the cradle of Meitei civilization.
Wakhal Lamjingba advised the team to show exemplary courage and discipline to the people and also seek blessings from Ipa Koubru and Ima Imoinu for the mission.
The expedition to Ipa Koubru and Ima Imoinu is significant to the people of Manipur as the Koubru mountains are considered to be the abode of the ancestral gods of the Meitei.
