Lunghar Village Authority Appeals for Timely Completion of Shirui Heritage Development Project in Ukhrul

Ukhrul, June 30, 2026: The Lunghar Village Authority has appealed to all concerned departments, stakeholders, and the concerned MLA to ensure the smooth implementation and timely completion of the Shirui Heritage Development Project, stating that the project would bring significant benefits to the people of Ukhrul district.

In a statement, Lunghar village headman LW Mataisang said that the project covers developmental works at Shirui village, Jorcheng (Lunghar village), and Bakshi Ground (Hungpung).

As one of the beneficiary villages, the authority assured full cooperation to the duly appointed work order holder for the successful execution of the Shirui Heritage project.

The authority stated that M/S Nongmaithem Enterprises was technically disqualified during the tender evaluation process by DRDA Ukhrul over alleged submission of incorrect documents, including a claimed completed work titled “Construction of District Court at Senapati.”

It said the matter was examined as per the tender conditions and General Conditions of Contract (GCC), following which the concerned authority issued a show cause notice.

The village authority added that the disqualification and award of the work order were carried out through the approval of the High Tender Committee, authenticated by the Chief Minister, and not by the DC/ED of DRDA alone.

The foundation stone of the project was laid at Shirui village on April 17, 2026, in the presence of the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, Tourism Minister, local MLA, and other dignitaries.

The authority has sought the intervention of the Chief Minister to ensure that the project does not face further delays.

The village body also expressed concern over repeated legal proceedings and RTI applications, stating that such actions have the potential to delay the Shirui Heritage project and affect developmental works.

It urged all parties to allow competent government authorities to address technical and contractual issues as per existing rules.

Maintaining that transparency and accountability are important, the authority appealed for cooperation from the public, departments, and elected representatives to monitor the quality of work and ensure timely completion.

The authority further stated that the completion of the Shirui Heritage Development Project would mark a major milestone in promoting tourism and development in Ukhrul district.
