Three Myanmar nationals carrying fake Aadhaar cards along with Myanmar identification cards were rounded up at Sugnu Khongnang Khong in Kakching district of Manipur by a team of a commando unit of Sugnu on Wednesday.
According to police, a team of commando unit Sugnu led by Havildar Santi stopped one Tata Sumo passenger vehicle travelling from Serou, as a part of a routine frisking and checking at Sugnu Khongnang Khong.
While checking the passengers, the team found three Myanmar nationals travelling in the vehicle, it stated. The three individuals were detained. Upon further inspection, they were found carrying fake Aadhar cards and the Myanmar ID cards.
Police stated that the three individuals were identified as Khaikhenmung, 30, son of Ginkhanchin with Aadhaar address mentioned as Vengnuam Village, New Lamka in Churachandpur district.
Thongkapthang, 30, son of late Khamsuankap with Aadhar address mentioned as Mongken Village Singhat sub-division in Churachandpur District.
A juvenile of 16 years (as per Aadhar) with the Aadhaar address mentioned as Mongken Village, Singnat sub division in Churachandpur district.
Upon questioning, the three revealed that they were originally from Kalemyo, Saingang region in Kale district of Myanmar. They had boarded the sumo from T Nampao Village in Chandel district and were travelling to Churachandpur district, as per police.
The three Myanmar nationals have been handed over to Sugnu Police station for further investigation, it added.
Last month, five Myanmar nationals, including a woman, were arrested in Manipur for illegal intrusion.
Acting on intel inputs, the arrests were made on 9th August from Ngathal Village in the Churachandpur district.
CM N Biren was reported to have said that based on reliable information regarding the presence of Myanmar nationals in the Ngathal Village area in Churachandpur district, a team from the Churachandpur police station conducted a search.
“During the search, five Myanmar nationals, including one woman, were found staying illegally in the state. They could not produce any documents of identity and citizenship, therefore were arrested after observing due formalities,” CM Biren said.
Earlier this year, Manipur police also arrested at least 80 Myanmar nationals, including women and children, who were illegally staying in the Churachandpur district. Most of them were found in two rented accommodations.
