The 20th Federal Executive Council of the Manipuri Students’ Federation (MSF) for the term 2023-25 saw the swearing-in of newly elected office bearers of MSF. The Oath Taking Cum Charge Handling and Taking Over Ceremony (Washak Louba Loinana Thoudang Sinnaba Amadi Lousinbagi Thouram) was held at the Head Office in Kwakeithel, Imphal West today.
This Oath-taking ceremony of new Office Bearers of MSF marked a pivotal moment for the federation as it witnessed 46 individuals taking the oath as office bearers of MSF and executive council members.
The oath-taking event was presided over by distinguished individuals, including Professor N. Mohilal Singh, from the Department of Zoology (Life Science) at Manipur University, who served as the Oath Commissioner.
Several other eminent personalities were part of the presidium, including Ngariyanbam Milan, MSF Advisor and Chairman of the Election Committee, Oinam Ashinikumar, MSF Advisor and Returning Officer of the Election Committee, Elangbam Ranjita, MSF Women’s Advisor and Observer of the Election Committee, and R.K. Gunikanta, Consultant on MSF Drug Affairs.
Hijam Roshan Singh was sworn in as the President, with Yumnam James, Chabungbam Sunilkanta, Tekcham Rojit, and Ningombam Prem taking the portfolios of Vice-Presidents.
The General Secretary, Finance Secretary, Organization Secretary, and Publicity Secretary roles were assumed by Khumanthem Sundar Meitei, Laishram Harley, Rabikanta Khaidem, and Abhijeet Kabrabam, respectively.
Hijam Roshan Singh, the newly elected President, shared insights into the federation’s goals and priorities. He emphasized the need to address the state’s economic challenges, highlighting that the state’s revenue had reduced to 12% in line with the budget of 2021-22.
He discussed the federation’s plans to take steps to boost the state’s economic development, as a significant portion of the state’s economy relies on the central government. The President also stressed the importance of ensuring a smooth learning process and expanding the organization’s academic campaign, “Eikhoi Lairik Ningthina Tamsi.” Additionally, the federation is actively involved in a “Drug Use Prevention campaign” across the state, advocating for a stringent law to combat drug smuggling.
Professor N. Mohilal Singh, the Oath Commissioner, commended the MSF’s “Free Coaching Class” initiative and emphasized the value of unity and coordination for a fair society.
Ngariyanbam Milan, MSF Advisor, called for collective responsibility among all segments of society, stressing the importance of knowledge sharing and spreading awareness about Manipur’s history and political status.
Oinam Ashinikumar, MSF Advisor, urged the newly elected office bearers of MSF to work together to implement proposed plans and initiatives effectively. He stressed the importance of creating a developed and equitable society through collective efforts.
On behalf of the new office bearers of MSF, R.K. Gunikanta, MSF Consultant on Drug Affairs, and Elangbam Ranjita, MSF Women’s Advisor, reiterated the need for collective activities and coordination, emphasizing that today’s youth often prioritize individualistic ideas.
Special invitees, including Thokchom Norendro, General Secretary of Kwakeithel Thounaojam Leikai Meira Paibee Makha Nupi Khut, and Thongam Kumbirei, shared their perspectives on the need for discipline among youth and the significance of education.
In closing event, the 20th Federal Executive Council 2023-25 appealed to the public to support MSF’s initiatives and work for the betterment of society, calling for collective efforts to build a brighter future for all.
