As a precautionary measure against “encroachers” from Manipur, the Southern Angami Youth Organization (SAYO), on Wednesday, informed that it has been compelled to impose a ‘No Entry restriction’ in Manipur’s Dzuko Valley and Kezoltsa till further notice.
The apex youth body of the Southern Angamis said that failing to comply with the restrictions along the border, it will initiate its course of action against illegal trespassers.
“Being the custodian of the Dzuko Valley and Kezoltsa, the SAYO will take all necessary steps to defend and protect its ancestral land,” SAYO president Metekhrielie Mejura, and general secretary, Metevizo Sophie said in an update.
SAYO also lamented the imposition of Section 144 CrPC near the Nagaland-Manipur border by the District Magistrate (DM), Senapati District in Manipur through order No. DC (SPT) 16/17(L&O) 19 dated April 6. The tribal youth body said that the clamping of 144 CrPC has directly affected the land of Southern Angamis.
It said that the “incapacitated” action of the DM is unreasonable, misleading and provocative to the peaceful coexistence between the neighbouring villages, even as SAYO suspended the indefinite National Highway Bandh in its jurisdiction owing to the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Angami Public Organization (APO).
“No forces whatsoever, internally or externally are responsible for keeping the bandh in abeyance except to honourably extend our sincere respect to APO,” it said.
The youth body also reiterated that the bandh suspension also came given the resolution and assurance given by the Tenyimi People’s Organization (TPO), and to honour and respect the customary practice of resolving disputes through the highest decision-making body of the Tenyimi People.
SAYO said that until the dispute is resolved by the TPO, there is no reason to clamp 144 CrPC on grounds of law and order apprehension near the boundary.
It also appealed to the Manipur Government to take steps in revoking Section 144 CrPC, and also withdraw armed personnel and its remnants from Kezoltsa to maintain lasting peace and tranquility.
