Imphal West district police arrested a person who was involved in various bomb blasts in the Imphal area, including the IED explosion at Little Flower School Monday late, along with explosive devices.
As per the police, the accused, identified as one Thounaojam Rishi Luwangcha, was arrested from Kangla Sangomshang area, Imphal East at 10 pm Monday.
A team of CDO Imphal West led by additional SP (Ops) M Amit Singh, assisted by inspector P Achouba Meetei under the command and supervision of SP Ksh Shivakanta Singh rushed to Kangla Sangomshang area and cordoned off some houses after specific information was received about the presence of some persons in and around the said area who were involved in the recent serial bomb blasts in Imphal areas, the police said in a statement.
During the operation, one person was seen running on the backside of a house but was overpowered by the police team, police said. A jar containing a detonator fitted on a cordtex wire of 1 feet approximately, 58 PEK sticks weighing around 7.358 kg approximately, three coils of cordtex wire, 397 detonators and two batteries, were found from his position, according to the police
On verification, he disclosed that he was the person behind the recent serial bomb blast incidents, including the bomb blasts at a shop in Nagamapal on May 5, at one house located at Khurai Thoudingjam Leikai on May 6, and at Little Flower School on June 5, the police said.
According to the police, he identified himself as an active member of the National Revolutionary Front of Manipur (NRFM), a terrorist organization. He also disclosed that he started working for the said organisation in September 2021 under the command of one self-styled chairman Dhaballo, who is presently staying in Bangladesh. The explosive substances were handed over to him by his commander through an unknown person in January 2022, He also stated that he used to receive Rs 30,000 for each bomb blast, the police said in its statement
