Imphal/September 02, 2023 (SPN) | The Protection and Preservation Committee Manipur (PPCM) has announced its new office bearers for the 2023-25 term. The All Manipur United Clubs’ Organisation (AMUCO) president, Pheiroijam Nando Luwang, will be the convenor of PPCM. This announcement came in the form of an official release from PPCM.
The PPCM has elected a total of 13 new officebearers to serve various crucial roles within the committee. Among them is Ksh Somorendro, the president of IPAK, who will serve as the convenor responsible for organization matters. L Ibotomb, the president of AMESCO, joins as the co-convenor for organization-related activities. P Sobita, the general secretary of Nupi Samaj, has been named the convenor for finance, while K Helen, the vice president of AMUCO, will be in charge of highway-related affairs.
PPCM, a significant organization in Manipur, was originally formed on October 20, 2011. It boasts a diverse membership, including 35 organizations, encompassing 15 women’s organizations, 4 farmers’ unions, 4 student bodies, and 12 civil society organizations (CSOs). Some of the prominent organizations involved in PPCM include AMSU, MSF, KSA, Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibee Apunba Manipur, Nupi Samaj, Tammi Chingmi, and many others.
In a parallel development, the Lamyanba Irabot Ningshing Thouram Observation Committee (LINTOC), operating under the umbrella of PPCM, held a grand inaugural function.
This event marked the commencement of a month-long memorial observation of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot, a revered figure in Manipur’s history. The inaugural function took place at the PPCM office located in Wahengbam Leikai.
The event drew notable personalities, including Ph Nando Luwang, LINTOC convenor Kh Gopen Luwang, and co-convenors K Thoiba Meitei, Y Khomba, and L Shyam Khuman, who presided over the ceremony.
The proceedings commenced with a heartfelt tribute, as attendees paid their respects by laying floral wreaths at a photograph of the revered Lamyanba Hijam Irabot. This touching gesture signified the deep respect and admiration the people of Manipur continue to hold for this iconic figure.
This development brings fresh energy and leadership to PPCM, promising a renewed commitment to its mission of protecting and preserving the cultural and social heritage of Manipur.
