In a significant development for healthcare in Manipur, the Association of Healthcare Providers of India (AHPI), Manipur Chapter, has announced the resumption of cashless treatment for PMJAY cardholders with immediate effect. This decision follows a constructive meeting between AHPI members and Sumant Singh, IAS, Health Commissioner, Government of Manipur, held on August 11, 2025.

The move comes after AHPI had earlier, on August 5, declared the inability of private hospitals to continue cashless services under the PMJAY scheme due to prolonged pending bills and financial distress. During the recent meeting, the Health Commissioner acknowledged the concerns raised by AHPI, particularly those affecting patients on dialysis, and assured that pending claims will be prioritized. He emphasized the government’s deep concern about the long-standing delay in reimbursements and its commitment to diligently clear hospital bills at the earliest.

In response to the government’s commitment, the AHPI Manipur Chapter has agreed to immediately withdraw the suspension of PMJAY treatment benefits announced earlier and will continue providing cashless healthcare services to PMJAY beneficiaries as before. AHPI remains dedicated to collaborating with the government to uphold patient welfare and maintain the highest standards of healthcare in the state.

The announcement was made by Dr. Palin Khundongbam, President of AHPI NE India II Chapter, and Dr. James Elangbam, Secretary, based at the chapter’s office in Hiyang Hiren Leirak, Palace Compound, Imphal East in Manipur.
