The proscribed Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) has clarified that 95 pieces of fake Rs 500 notes totaling Rs 50,000 seized from one Soibam Ronaldo alias Abungo alias Thoiba of Soibam Leikai are not related to the outfit.

A clarification issued by RPF Assistant Secretary (Publicity) Bangkim said that RO of RPF Finance Department entrusted Soibam Ronaldo with the task of collecting a sum of Rs 50,000 from Jai Sing Jain, proprietor of Mamta Electronics, Thangal Bazar as an assistance for the revolutionary movement but later the Rs 500 notes turned out to be fake.

Bangkim said that such an act is an attempt to malign the image of the RPF. The statement added that the incident shows that the non-local are bringing fake currency to the region and appealed to people to be aware of this.
