SpiceJet is set to commence its inaugural flight services to Imphal, the capital of Manipur, marking a significant expansion into India’s North-East region.
The low-cost carrier will introduce daily operations to Imphal starting February 10, 2026, utilizing Boeing 737 aircraft. The new routes include direct (non-stop) flights connecting Imphal with Kolkata and Guwahati.
Services from Mumbai will operate as a single-aircraft journey with a brief stopover in Kolkata, allowing passengers to avoid changing planes.
These additions come at a crucial time for Manipur, which has faced limited air travel options in recent years amid regional challenges.
The daily flights are anticipated to boost accessibility for local residents, students, medical patients, government personnel, and business professionals, while increasing overall travel capacity and affordability to and from the state.
Beyond the primary connections to Kolkata, Guwahati, and Mumbai, the services will facilitate seamless onward travel through SpiceJet’s broader domestic network, as well as select international destinations. This will provide Imphal-bound passengers with more efficient and time-saving options for journeys across India and beyond.
Debojo Maharshi, Chief Business Officer of SpiceJet, stated: “The launch of our maiden flights to Imphal marks an important milestone for SpiceJet as we expand our footprint in the North-East.
Improved connectivity to the region has long been a priority, and these new services will make travel to Manipur more accessible and convenient for passengers across key metros. We remain committed to strengthening regional connectivity while offering dependable and affordable travel options.”
The initiative is expected to support both leisure and business travel, contributing to greater economic and social integration for Manipur with the rest of the country.
