State BJYM files counter complaint against MPCC

A counter-complaint has been filed by the State BJYM in connection with the FIR lodged against BJYM by MPCC falsely accusing its members.

A day after MPCC filed FIR against the leaders of BJYM, a counter-complaint has been filed by the State BJYM in connection with the FIR lodged against BJYM by MPCC falsely accusing its members.

A team of MPCC led by its General Secretary on Thursday lodged a FIR with City Police Station in connection with the protest that took place in-front of Congress Bhawan gate on Thursday.

Talking to reporters at Thambal Shanglen, Keishampat on Friday, State BJYM VP Deshraj Yumnam said that the country has been expressing happiness over Droupadi Murmu becoming the first tribal President of India and second woman President. Unfortunately, Congress MP Adhi Ranjan Chaudhury called the newly sworn-in President Droupadi Murmu ‘Rashtrapatni’ which was an act of insult to her, women, and citizens of the country particularly the tribal community where she belongs, said Deshraj.

He said that every single citizen of the country needs to strongly condemn the reference of the MP and his party for insulting the President, the highest post in the Indian Constitution. He also said that the ‘Rashtrapatni’ remark used by the Congress MP was also an insult and shameful act against the tribal people, women and the poor. He said that the protest that was witnessed at the gate of MPCC on Thursday and the burning of the effigy of Congress leader Sonia Gandhi was just to show that such an act of insult is unacceptable and condemnable to all.

The protest was led by Manipur BJYM President M Barish Sharma during which they burned the effigy of AICC leader Sonia Gandhi and shouted slogans like ‘Sonia Gandhi murdabad’ and ‘BJP Zindabad’. They also condemned the MP remark. BJYM claimed that a group of Congress volunteers present at the scene tried to attack the BJYM volunteers with some weapons, alleged Deshraj.

Summoning and questioning of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the National Herald newspaper money laundering case was the main reason for organising protests by the Congress in different parts of the country including Manipur, BJYM said.

It clearly indicates that the grand old party encourages and supports the money laundering case and corruption, he claimed.

Deshraj stated that the summons was served by the ED but the Congress party and its leaders have blamed the BJP Government for it.

He also said that the act of mocking and downgrading the President is akin to insulting the citizens of the country.
