The talented Thang Ta students of the Oriental Martial Art and Cultural Association (OMACA) showcased the Maram Pung Sen Yengba Ta Khoushaba at the New Light Public School in Canchipur yesterday.
The event was attended by special guests, including Sintakpurel Okram Manglem Meeti, President of Apunba Manipur Huyen Lanlong Lup, and Sintakpurel P Mangee, Manipur State Kala Awardee.
In addition, OMACA recognized the medal winners of the 11th Kangleipak Cheibi Yendamnaba, which was organized by KSA in association with the All Manipur Cheibi Association. The gold medalist Okram Khagemba, silver medalist K Sana, and bronze medalists K Thoi, Ch Loya, E Lanchenba, and T Yaithoi were appreciated for their achievements.
The Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Fellowship National Award 2022 awardee, Sintakpurel Okram Joykumar Singh in the field of martial Art – Thang Ta and President of OMACA, was also felicitated during the event.
The Ta Khoushaba event showcased the rich cultural heritage of Manipur, and the Thang Ta students demonstrated their skills and dedication to this martial art form.
The recognition of the medal winners and felicitation of Sintakpurel Okram Joykumar Singh served as a motivation for the participants and the community to continue preserving and promoting their cultural traditions.
Meanwhile, the closing function of the ten-day workshop and production of “Thang Leiteng Haiba” was held yesterday at the hall of Pathou Thang Ta Performing Arts Centre located in Keirao Bitra Makha Leikai, Litan Makhong, under the Imphal East district.
The workshop and production were organized by Pathou Thang Ta Performing Arts Centre, with the aim of educating Thang-Ta practitioners about the important aspect of Thang Leiteng Haiba.
Puthem Mangi, Director of Pathou Thang Ta Performing Arts Centre, spoke at the event and emphasized the significance of Thang Leiteng Haiba in Thang Ta. He assured that more workshops based on Thang Ta would be organized in the near future.
As part of the closing ceremony, the students of Pathou Thang Ta Performing Arts Centre presented productions of Thang Leiteng, Thang Ani Yanaba, Thang Ta Chainaba, and other traditional performances.
The event was attended by Mutum Romeshchandra, former Pradhan of Keirao GP, and Kh Surchandra, Director of MITTACI. The workshop and production of Thang Leiteng Haiba have served as a platform for Thang-Ta practitioners to learn about and promote the traditional art form, preserving it for future generations.
