On the 16th of March, a rather momentous event took place as the illustrious Taylor Swift made a grand announcement of the forthcoming release of four new songs as an ode to The Eras Tour, which was scheduled to commence on the 17th of March, a mere day after the declaration.
The remarkably talented singer-songwriter took to Instagram to make the revelation via a story, expressing her exhilaration with the phrase, “In celebration of The Eras Tour, I am releasing four previously unreleased songs tonight at midnight.”
The four new songs in question were also disclosed, namely: “Eyes Open (Taylor’s Version),” “Safe & Sound (featuring Joy Williams and John Paul White) (Taylor’s Version),” “If This Was A Movie (Taylor’s Version),” and “All Of The Girls You Loved Before.”
Subsequent to the aforementioned announcement, Taylor Swift has already re-recorded and released two out of her six albums: Fearless (Taylor’s Version) (2021) and Red (Taylor’s Version) (2021). Both albums have been widely applauded by music critics and fans alike, for their exquisite compositions and captivating lyrics.
The album, Fearless (Taylor’s Version) (2021), was particularly noteworthy for shattering multiple musical records, while Red (Taylor’s Version) (2021) fetched her the esteemed Best Music Video Grammy award, owing to her exceptional craftsmanship in the “All Too Well” short film.
But that wasn’t enough for the “Anti-Hero” songstress, as she later took to Twitter to share some behind-the-scenes photos of her rehearsing for The Eras Tour, captioning them with the succinct phrase “In my Eras era.”
All of this is in line with Swift’s objective of re-recording all of her previous six albums, which she announced back in November 2020 after multiple disputes with her former record label concerning the ownership of the master recordings of those albums.
When the master recordings were sold to a third party without her knowledge for the second time, Swift made her statement via Twitter, stating “I have recently begun to re-record my older music and it has already proven to be both exciting and completely fulfilling.”
It’s safe to say that even before The Eras Tour kicked off, it has already built up an immense level of anticipation and expectation, with many predicting that it will be one of Swift’s greatest tours yet, if not the very best of her storied career.
