CAU to organize international conference on natural farming

The Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal, is organizing a 3-day international conference on Natural Farming for Revitalizing Environment and Resilient Agriculture (NF-RERA). The conference will begin on March 17, 2023, and will be held at the College of Agriculture (COA) campus in Iroisemba.

Delegates from different parts of the world, including scientists and research scholars, will participate in the conference. The Dean of the College, Professor Indira Sarangthem, addressed the media during a press meet held in connection with the conference.

The conference on natural farming will cover eight themes, and each theme will have a technical session addressed by the Vice-Chancellor, Director, and other high-level officers. 25 lead papers on agriculture and allied disciplines will be presented by scientists during the three-day conference.

The conference on natural farming will also host in-depth discussion and interaction programs, enabling the participants to exchange their valuable ideas and experiences.

Professor Indira Sarangthem, in her address, emphasized the need for natural farming. She stated that reckless farming activities pollute the environment, leading to ecological imbalance, which impacts living beings considerably. Hence, practicing natural farming methods, which are environmentally friendly, would help in tackling these serious issues, serving as a long-term solution.

The primary objective of this conference on natural farming is to sensitize the masses about the multiple benefits of natural farming. The conference will bring forth many valuable ideas in the field of agriculture and allied activities, benefiting farmers and society as a whole.

The NF-RERA conference is a significant event that aims to bring together scientists, researchers, and other stakeholders from different parts of the world to discuss the importance of natural farming. The conference will help in developing sustainable and environmentally friendly farming methods, leading to a better future for all.

The press meet was attended by Dr Angad Prasad, Head of Extension Education, COA, CAU, Dr Kh Ibohal, Head of Entomology Department, and Dr SM Haldhar, Organising Secretary of the conference.
