Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM) has issued a public advisory on Monday regarding National Highway 2 (NH-2), emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and ensuring uninterrupted access to this critical roadway. The organization highlight that NH-2, a vital artery for transportation and goods movement, is under the jurisdiction of the Government of India, and any obstruction violates fundamental rights.

The advisory comes in the wake of assurances from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Kuki Zo Council (KZC), which reported no recent incidents disrupting commuters, transportation, or the supply of essential goods along NH-2. To further safeguard the highway, KZC has formally requested the deployment of central security forces to ensure free movement. This request aligns with KZC’s Resolution No. 2, passed during a public meeting in Kangpokpi on July 29, 2025, which urged citizens to cooperate fully with government security personnel.

TIM called on the Thadou community to refrain from mob mobilization, rioting, or blockading NH-2, emphasizing that such actions should not be linked to political expression. The organization also cautioned against being swayed by provocative social media messages or propaganda, specifically denouncing what it described as “Kuki-Jihadist” narratives that have contributed to social unrest in the region.

In addition, TIM highlighted that the United People’s Front (UPF) and Kuki National Organization (KNO), signatories to the recently renegotiated Suspension of Operations (SoO) Agreement, have endorsed KZC’s stance. Under the agreement, all signatory groups are obligated to avoid participating in or instigating highway blockades.

TIM appealed to all community members to uphold peace, respect constitutional principles, and cooperate with law enforcement to ensure NH-2 remains accessible for the benefit of all. The organization reiterated its commitment to fostering harmony and preventing disruptions caused by misinformation or divisive rhetoric.
