Farmers who have already begun agricultural work seek govt attention for the non-availability of urea at present. In the local market, a bag of urea cost Rs 1500 to 1600. A farmer from Wangoo area named N Kumar said that Luwangfabi Loukol, Chairel Patlou Loukol and Kakching Khunou Khampokpi Patlou Loukol covered an area of 400 pari in total.
As such, he appealed to the State government to avail abundant Urea to the farmers at subsidized rate on time otherwise the farmers will be compelled to stop agricultural work.
Meanwhile, Wangoo Multi Farmers Development Co-Operative Society Secretary Moirangthem Roben said that the society has distributed Phoudi (rice plant seedlings) to farmers this year free of cost, and sprayer pumps were supplied at low cost.
He said that farmers of the district are enquiring when the Urea at subsidized rate will be given. So, the society appealed to the Agriculture department to fulfill the demands of the farmers at the earliest, he added.
