Amit Shah Assures Integrity of the State Will Not Be Affected

Imphal (SPN) | Chief Minister N Biren assured the public that the integrity of the state would not be compromised amidst the ongoing situation. A press conference was held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat today.

N Biren along with his cabinet ministers and Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha Maharaja Leishemba Sanajaoba, met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi to discuss the prevailing situation in Manipur.

During the meeting, Biren conveyed the heartfelt condolences of the Union Home Minister to the people of Manipur for the loss of lives and destruction of properties.

He further added that Amit Shah assured that the central government would take firm action to deal with the current situation and restoring peace and normalcy in Manipur is of utmost priority. He emphasized that the unity and integrity of the state would be safeguarded at all costs.

Providing insights into the meeting, the Chief Minister stated that a Joint Monitoring Committee, comprising both state and central forces, has been actively working to ensure that militants under Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreements return to their designated camps. They are also investigating whether groups not covered by the SoO agreements are involved in the violence.

The Union Home Minister requested detailed information on measures that can be taken to assist those affected by the recent violence and assured that arrangements for the resettlement of affected individuals would be made promptly.

He also appealed to the public to refrain from organizing rallies, sit-in protests, or using provocative slogans, as such activities could hinder the efforts to restore peace and normalcy in the state.

The state government is taking all necessary steps to bring back normalcy, including deploying paramilitary forces at the foothills and addressing the essential needs of those staying in shelter camps.

The Chief Minister urged the public not to believe in rumors or unverified information, highlighting the critical nature of the current situation and its potential impact on the peaceful coexistence of future generations.

He sought the support of Civil Society Organizations in the government’s endeavors to restore peace and normalcy, calling on the people of Manipur to join hands and set aside past grievances.

Today’s press conference was attended by Power Minister Thongam Biswajit, MAHUD Minister Yumnam Khemchand, Works Minister Govindas Konthoujam, IPR Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan, and Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Board Sorokhaibam Rajen.
