CM N Biren  led India’s 75th Independence Day celebration at 1st MR Ground in Imphal which was marked by colourful cultural performances for the first time, and highlighted the great achievements in his address to the people of the state. This time, the Independence day celebration showcases the cultural diversity and unity of Manipur.

For the first time, a special programme of cultural dances, drills, and patriotic songs marked the Independence Day celebration held in Imphal. It was participated by people from all communities of the state.

“In a first of its kind, celebrated Independence Day with people from all the communities amidst cultural dances, patriotic songs & other fun-filled performances. Today’s event showcased the true spirit of a United Manipur and a United India. This celebration has set a precedent in celebrating our unity of Manipur and cultural diversity,” the chief minister said.

“The performance of the students of Wangkhei High School was a cherry on the top in the Independence Day celebration at Hapta Kangjeibung earlier today,” Biren said in a Twitter post.

Later, the chief minister along with his cabinet colleagues paid floral tributes to great freedom fighters Rani Gaidinliu and Haipou Jadonang.

Biren also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making a strong India. Under Prime Minister @narendramodi Ji’s leadership, India is becoming one of the strongest nations. Similarly, the unity among all communities, in a diverse state like Manipur, has enabled us to make Manipur a stable and rapidly developing state.

Extending greetings to the people on the occasion, CM Biren also expressed pride and delight in the completion of 75 years of independence of India.

“For the past more than one year, the glorious history of the people, culture, and achievements are being celebrated and commemorated across the country under the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ initiative,” Biren said.

The chief minister called upon the people to dedicate themselves to the ideals of democracy and service to the nation in order to become one of the youngest populations to achieve self-reliance in every sector.

Setting the mood for the celebration, the chief minister on Sunday flagged off a motor bike rally from Hapta Kangjeibung to Moirang and another to Mao and prayed for the safe return of the riders. Riding a motorbike himself, Biren led the rally to Moirang.
