Imphal, July 8: A significant milestone in healthcare education in Manipur was marked on Thursday with the inauguration of the Hundred Flowers Institute of Medical Sciences at Thangjam Khunou, Pangei Road, Imphal East.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Naorem Praveen Singh, IAS, Secretary, Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of Manipur, as the Chief Guest.
The programme was also attended by Madam Mehrun Nisa, Chairperson of Hundred Flowers Society; Dr M.A. Razaque, former Head of the Department of Chest Medicine, RIMS and later JNIMS; Dr Md Raheijuddin Sheikh, Principal of Moirang College; Dr Nepram Swarnalata, Selection Grade Lecturer, Pharmacy Department, Government Polytechnic Takyel and PCI Central Council Member; Dr James Elangbam, Managing Director of ACME Fertility and Healthcare Centre; Syed Abdul Samad, MPS, Superintendent of Police, Manipur Central Prison, Sajiwa; and Badrur Rahman, former Adhyaksha of Imphal East and Managing Director of Barak Valley School Society, Silchar.
Several medical professionals, educationists, government officials, social workers, representatives of various institutions, parents, students and well wishers also attended the ceremony.
The programme began with a ceremonial plant watering, symbolising growth, knowledge and the commitment to nurture future healthcare professionals. This was followed by an invocation prayer and a welcome address delivered by Mehnaz Nasreen, Founder of Youth Street News and Deputy Director of HFIMS.
Delivering the keynote address, Jabir Rahman, Managing Director of the Hundred Flowers Group of Institutions and Director of HFIMS, highlighted the vision behind the establishment of the institute. He said HFIMS was founded with the objective of providing quality and affordable medical education, particularly in allied health sciences, while meeting the growing demand for skilled healthcare professionals in Manipur and the North Eastern region.
He reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to academic excellence, professional ethics, innovation and community service.
Following the keynote address, the Chief Guest formally inaugurated the institute by cutting the ceremonial ribbon. The dignitaries were later taken on a guided tour of the campus, where they visited classrooms, laboratories, the library and other academic facilities.
The gathering was also addressed by Badrur Rahman, former Adhyaksha of Imphal East and Managing Director of Barak Valley School Society, Silchar; Nisha Debbarma, Headmistress of Hundred Flowers Kids School; and Rehana Rahman, Member of the Hundred Flowers Society and CEO of Riqaba Innovations.
The Guests of Honour, including distinguished doctors and educationists, congratulated the management for establishing the institute and appreciated its efforts to strengthen healthcare education in the state. They also encouraged students to pursue the healthcare profession with dedication, compassion and integrity.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Naorem Praveen Singh, IAS, congratulated the management for taking the initiative to expand quality educational opportunities in Manipur. He expressed confidence that the institute would play an important role in producing competent healthcare professionals and contribute meaningfully to the state’s healthcare system.
The programme also featured a cultural presentation by students, adding colour and enthusiasm to the occasion. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by lunch and a campus visit for the invited guests.
Established under the aegis of the Hundred Flowers Group of Institutions, the Hundred Flowers Institute of Medical Sciences marks a new chapter in the institution’s journey of educational service. With its focus on academic excellence, practical training, ethical values and community oriented healthcare education, the institute aims to emerge as a leading centre for medical sciences in Manipur and the North Eastern region.
