Manipur University releases special journal issue on conflict, displacement and evidence-based research

Vice Chancellor (In-Charge) Prof. R.K. Hemakumar Singh said universities have a responsibility to produce objective academic research capable of helping society understand complex issues. He appreciated the Department of Anthropology for publishing a timely volume devoted to Manipur’s continuing unrest and expressed hope that the research would contribute to informed academic discussions beyond the state.

Panel Calls for Modernisation of Public Libraries in North East India

The panel noted that the Raja Rammohun Roy Library Foundation has been extending annual financial assistance to public libraries in North Eastern India under various development schemes on a 90:10 funding pattern. In Manipur, proposals are examined by the State Library Planning Committee, chaired by the Commissioner of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur, before being recommended for assistance under different RRRLF schemes.

The programme is being organised by the Department of Library and Information Science, Manipur University, and sponsored by National Mission on Libraries, Raja Ram Mohan Roy Library Foundation, Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
