LSTB to Observe Langban Chara Tamba Ritual to Honor Martyrs on August 24

The Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board (LSTB) will conduct the annual Langban Chara Tamba ritual on Sunday, August 24, at the Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple, Haying Khongban Uphong Yumfam. The ceremony, marking its third year, will honor the Meitei individuals who lost their lives due to ethnic violence perpetrated by Kuki refugees on May 3, 2023, and pay tribute to the brave souls who died defending the state.

The ritual will include prayers for the well-being of the departed and feature traditional performances, including Thang-Ta, Pung (drum), and music by children from relief camps, showcasing cultural resilience.

LSTB Maibarel Maisnam Iboba Luwang, in a press statement, urged organizations and associations to send one representative to participate in the event, emphasizing community solidarity and to take part in remembering the victims and honoring the sacrifices made during the tragic events, fostering unity and remembrance among the Meitei community.

Last year, the ceremony saw hundreds of attendees, including family members of the martyrs, coming from different parts of Manipur.
