When we talk of MP or Minister’s recommendation, we thought of recommendations for tender work, kid’s admission or supply orders in government’s department. However, for Maharaja Leishemba, his recommendation is to seek treatment funds for the beneficiaries. This is what every patient’s family is looking to save their dear ones.
Maharaja Leishemba Sanajaoba has recommended the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the treatment of 2 years old Albert Maimom who will undergo Bone Marrow transplant soon. Rs 3 lakhs has been sanctioned for the treatment by Prime Minister Office (PMO).
The fund drive for the treatment was also carried out by one of the crowd funding site, Ketto. A local Facebook page, Eramdam E-pao too carried its own fund drive and is able to collect around Rs 12 lakhs within 10 days. Several people have come forward to help the family. Even some MLAs have shown their willingness and support for donations. The treatment will need around 40 lakhs, and Master Albert’s hope depends on his supporters.
The PMNRF is a fund fully collected from the public without any allocation from the government to support of people. When there is a centrally sponsored funds to be utilised for our people, why don’t our representatives and MPs not recommended before? It is only the kind hearted Maharaja Leishemba who is able to help his people now.
What is more praiseworthy is that Maharaja Leishemba Sanajaoba has been able to provide financial assistance to 16 more beneficiaries for medical treatments amounting to Rs 31 lakhs earlier. Irrespective of the beneficiaries locations, be it the hills or valleys, the King is helping the patients to get the medical assistance from PMNRF.
Maharaja Leishemba is able to help 17 beneficiaries, including Maimom Albert. Out of these 17 beneficiaries, 10 are undergoing cancer treatment, four in renal transplant and two in aplastic anemia treatment while Albert is undergoing treatment for Familial Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis.
Maharaja Leishemba also tweeted thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the support and also tagged CM N Biren and BJP State president A Sarda Devi.
The amount might be very less, but to a poor family who is in dire need of money, this is a huge amount. Some of the beneficiaries have even sold their homestead lands. Chief Minister N Biren also launched his signature health card, popularly known as Chief Minister gi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) which provided upto Rs 5 lakhs for medical treatments. When we have leaders like Maharaja Leishemba Sanajaoba and Chief Minister N Biren, we are safe and there is always a hope. The Maharaja will be satisfied when these beneficiaries returned home fully recovered and interact with him.
The Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba is indeed the Maharaja of the people. Even since he became the representative of the people in the Rajya Sabha, he is addressing issues of the people and the State. Earlier, when the Parliament session was going on, we never thought of watching it, for our MPs were voiceless. We don’t expect anything from them.
This time, whenever there is a Rajya Sabha session, there is something MP Leishemba Sanajaoba would address the Upper House of the Parliament. Be it the Manipur people’s demand for the inclusion of Meitei/Meetei in the Schedule Tribe list, move to include Manipuri script in the Indian currency notes, the recognition of Manipuri language seventh Indian classical language, preservation and promotion of Sagol (Pony). This is exactly what we want from our MP.
