The Independence Day celebration followed a Har Ghar Tiranga Yatra organised by the University on August 12. University officers, faculty members, staff and NSS volunteers marched with the Tricolour from the Administrative Block to the Biodiversity Park near Centenary Hall.
The yatra culminated in a patriotic Pipe Band performance presented by the 33 Assam Rifles. The programme brought together Assam Rifles personnel and members of the university community in a celebration of national unity, discipline and respect for the country’s armed forces.
The Independence Day programme underscored the important role of universities in nation-building through education, research, public service and the development of informed and responsible citizens.
The programme concluded with a collective resolve to uphold the values represented by the National Flag and contribute towards building a peaceful, inclusive and progressive India.
