Manipur University Secures 1st Runner-Up at National Women Student Parliament 2025–2026

Manipur University has bagged the 1st Runner-Up position at the 4th Association of Indian Universities (AIU) National Women Student Parliament 2025–2026.

The national event, hosted by Chaudhary Bansi Lal University from April 3 to 5, 2026, witnessed participation from 22 universities across the country. Lovely Professional University (LPU) emerged as the winner, while the host institution, Chaudhary Bansi Lal University, and Jiwaji University secured the 2nd and 3rd runner-up positions respectively.

The competition was held on the theme “Developed India 2047: Role of Women”.Lepsopthei Kasar from the Department of Chemistry was awarded the Best President Award for her outstanding performance in conducting parliamentary proceedings.

The Manipur University team, consisting of Jessy Thiyam (Department of SEAS), Lepsopthei Kasar (Department of Chemistry), and Naorem Chelsia (Department of Political Science), reached the final round after performing strongly in the preliminary, quarter-final, and semi-final rounds.

The team was guided by Team Manager Dr. Kh. Radhapiyari Devi (Department of Earth Science).The three students were selected through an open audition organised by the Office of the Dean of Students’ Welfare.

The selection jury comprised Prof. Ch. Ibohal Singh (Dean, Students’ Welfare), Dr. Khumukcham Robindro Singh (Cultural Coordinator), Dr. Rajkumar Suresh Singh (Former Cultural Coordinator), and Dr. Kh. Radhapiyari Devi.

Cultural Coordinator Dr. Khumukcham Robindro Singh described the achievement as a significant milestone that highlights the growing interest and capability of women students in platforms of dialogue, leadership, and policy-making.

The university hopes this success will inspire more students, especially young women, to actively participate in such national-level forums in the future, fostering leadership, confidence, and constructive debate.
