Manipur University has strongly condemned a bomb explosion that rocked its campus on Saturday evening, describing the incident as a “heinous act” targeting innocent lives and the core values of education, peace, and harmony.

The blast occurred at approximately 7:15 p.m. on April 4, 2026, near the gate of Type V, Block 8 (Teachers’ Quarter No. 8) in the University Quarters at Canchipur, Imphal West.

The explosion damaged a portion of the gate and scattered splinters, but no casualties or injuries were reported.University authorities responded swiftly, cooperating fully with law enforcement agencies.

Security has been tightened across the campus, and steps are being taken to further strengthen safety measures. The institution has urged students, faculty, staff, and the public to remain calm, vigilant, and united against violence.

In its official statement issued on Sunday, Manipur University reaffirmed its commitment to providing a safe and secure environment for learning.
