The Manipur Institute of Technology (MIT), a constituent institute of Manipur University, will host the three-day Northeast India International Conference on Innovation in Science and Technology from December 9 to 11, 2025, at the Court Hall of Manipur University, Imphal.
Supported by the North Eastern Council (NEC), Shillong, the conference is being organized at a time when Northeast India is fast emerging as an important centre for technological growth.
The event aims to bring together academicians, researchers, industry experts and students to share knowledge, showcase new ideas and find practical solutions to the region’s unique challenges.The conference will focus on some of the most pressing issues facing the Northeast.
Key themes include disaster-resilient infrastructure, smart cities and urban planning, artificial intelligence and its applications, and green energy and renewable energy projects. Discussions will also cover advancements in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics & Communication, and Computer Science Engineering, along with core sciences such as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Running in hybrid mode, the three-day programme will feature keynote addresses by eminent national and international scientists and industry leaders, technical paper presentations, panel discussions on emerging technologies, and dedicated networking sessions for young researchers. Selected papers of high quality will be forwarded for publication in reputed Scopus-indexed journals.
The conference is poised to become a landmark event in fostering innovation, research collaboration, and sustainable development tailored to the unique needs of the eight northeastern states.
The region, long known for its rich natural resources and strategic importance, is now gaining recognition for its growing technological ecosystem.
Organizers say the conference will strengthen ties between academia and industry while giving young researchers from the region a chance to connect with experts from across India and abroad, and expect the event to play a significant role in the academic and industrial development of the Northeast and help drive the region’s growth and modernization in the years ahead, stated Dr Sakila Nongmeikapam, Public Relations Officer, Manipur University.
