Mizoram-based body, the Zo Reunification Organization (ZORO) on Tuesday said it opposed the Manipur government’s “plan to take away land from the Zo people ( Chin – Kuki – Mizo) living in the state’s hill areas.”
Speaking to the media, the organization claims that the Manipur government has declared multiple tribal settlements as reserved forests in Manipur state. ZORO pledged to fight against this “invasion” of Zo people’s land to the end.
According to ZORO leaders, 70% of Manipur state is inhabited by tribals while valley groups who occupy 30% of the remaining areas are trying to take away lands belonging to the tribals. The organization accused Chief Minister N Biren as the main perpetrator of this ‘agenda’.
Zo Reunification Organisation is an interstate organization that aims to unify and promote brotherhood among Zo people( Chin-Kuki-Mizo) around the world.
