Imphal/November 20, 2023 (SPN)| The Manipuri Meetei Association Bangalore (MMAB) met the families affected by the Khamenlok incident in Okshu Ningthemcha Khul yesterday. They convened a meeting involving the Oksu Ningthemcha Khul Village Development Committee, Leimarol Meira Paibi, and members of the Oksu Ningthemcha Khul Youth Club at Yumnam Tanoubi’s residence.
MMAB also extended financial aid of Rs 10,000 to each of the widows—Ngoubi Leima, Ibem, and Tanoubi—who lost their husbands, Moirangthem Hemant Meetei, Laishram Suresh, and Yumnam Surajitkumar, respectively at Khamenlok incident on July 13, 2023. This support aims to assist them in their weaving occupations through the Relief Committee of JNIMS.
The Relief Committee JNIMS expressed gratitude to MMAB for its assistance and urged other Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and local bodies to continue supporting the families of the victims.
Thoidingjam Bon Khurai, Chairman of the Relief Committee at JNIMS, emphasized the necessity for the local Pradhan and MLA to provide essential PDS items and NREGS support to the victims’ families.
Waribam Santi Devi, Secretary of Leimarol Meira Paibi, highlighted that Oksu Ningthemcha Khul is still reeling from the loss of the three brave individuals in the Khamenlok incident. She thanked the relief committee and MMAB for timely aid in assisting the affected families with their weaving occupations.
She further prayed for MMAB to extend courage and support to other victims’ families. Lukram Ibungohal Meetei, President of the Village Development Committee, expressed gratitude in his address, thanking MMAB for their proactive initiative and assistance to the villagers in need.
