The NSS Cell of Manipur University formally released the inaugural issue of its NSS Newsletter (Vol. 1, Issue 1: March–April 2026) on May 5, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at the Office of the Vice-Chancellor.
The newsletter, described as the first of its kind in Manipur and the entire North Eastern region, was officially released by Manipur University Vice-Chancellor Prof. N. Lokendra Singh.
Speaking as the Chief Guest, Vice-Chancellor Prof. N. Lokendra Singh appreciated the NSS Cell’s initiative and commended the dedicated efforts of Programme Coordinator Prof. Laishram Santosh Singh and all Programme Officers involved. He expressed confidence that the newsletter would inspire greater participation and excellence in NSS activities across the university and affiliated colleges.
VC Prof. Lokendra Singh further noted that the publication would act as a unifying and motivational platform, encouraging collaboration, recognition of excellence, and the sharing of best practices among NSS units
Prof. L. Santosh Singh, Programme Coordinator of the NSS Cell, who presided over the programme, termed the launch a “landmark and pioneering initiative.” He said the newsletter is envisioned as a monthly publication that will serve as a vital platform for documenting NSS activities, promoting institutional reflection, self-appraisal, and accountability among programme officers and volunteers.
“It will highlight activities, achievements, and societal impact while reflecting future goals and the visionary direction of the National Service Scheme,” he added.
Prof. Santosh Singh also stated that the publication aims to strengthen connectivity and foster a shared sense of purpose centred on service, leadership, and social responsibility. The maiden issue features articles, activity reports, and notable achievements of NSS volunteers and programme officers for the months of March and April 2026.
As a mark of respect, the Programme Coordinator and Programme Officers presented a token of appreciation and a traditional Lengjan Phee to the Vice-Chancellor.
The programme was attended by several NSS Programme Officers, including Dr. Kh. Herachandra Singh (Unit-I), Dr. N. Suraj Singh (Unit-III), Dr. Dalip Singh (Unit-IV), Dr. T. Deepamanjuri Devi (Unit-II), and officers from affiliated colleges.
Dr. Dalip Singh delivered the welcome address, while Dr. T. Deepamanjuri Devi proposed the vote of thanks.
