SpiceJet Cancels All Flights To and From Imphal Airport for One Week Starting April 7

All SpiceJet flights to and from Imphal’s Bir Tikendrajit International Airport have been cancelled from April 7 to April 14, disrupting air connectivity on key routes to Guwahati and Kolkata.

The airline cited operational reasons for the week-long suspension, which specifically affects the Imphal–Guwahati and Imphal–Kolkata sectors. The cancelled flights include SG488 (Kolkata-Imphal-Guwahati) and SG487 (Guwahati-Imphal-Kolkata).

Imphal Airport authorities, in a social media post, urged affected passengers to contact SpiceJet directly for updates and alternative arrangements.

The disruption comes months after Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand flagged off SpiceJet’s services connecting Imphal with Guwahati, Kolkata, and Mumbai on February 10, 2026, at the airport.

Airport officials noted that SpiceJet’s operations had introduced greater competition and helped maintain lower airfares on these routes. They expressed concern that a permanent exit by the airline could lead to significant fare increases, potentially returning to levels seen between September and December last year, when one-way fares from Imphal to Guwahati exceeded ₹10,000 on some carriers due to high demand.

“Despite concerns regarding performance or punctuality, or a few days’ break, it is only fair to acknowledge the positive impact SpiceJet has had in keeping air travel more affordable and accessible for passengers at Imphal,” the officials stated.

Passengers are advised to check SpiceJet’s official channels or the airport’s updates for any further developments or refund/rebooking options.
