Sub Divisional Officer (SDO), Lilong Angom Shijalembi Chanu issued a notice on July 25 directing unauthorized occupants settling at Waithou Pat to remove the fences, and ring bund, and to vacate the Waithou Pat latest by 3.30 PM on August 4.
The SDO warned in the notice that illegal encroachments will be removed without issuing any further notice. She conveyed that the Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal district had issued a direction on July 20 regarding the matter.
A notice issued by Lilong SDO stated that the Thoubal deputy commissioner is directed vide letter no. 10/65/Rev/DC (TBL)/2012 dated July 20, to enquire about the removal of the illegal encroachments including fish farm/ commercial fish farm in the Waithoupat water body area. The SDO has been directed to carry out the eviction of the illegal encroachers on Waithoupat under sub-deputy collector, Lilong, it added.
It also directed the unauthorized occupants such as fish farms, fencing and ring bund, etc. in the Waithou pat water body area located east of Tangjeng Ching, Thoubal district to be vacated by 3.30 pm on August 4. Failing to comply will lead to the removal of the encroachments without further notice, it cautioned.
It may be mentioned that on June 12, 69 illegal houses were evicted from the areas falling under the Waithou Protected Forest Area.
