Imphal/November 04, 2023(SPN)| The All Manipur United Clubs’ Organisation (AMUCO) conducted an awareness campaign as part of its ‘Way Forward’ series at the Sagoltongba Makha Leikai community hall. During the event, AMUCO reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the territorial integrity and identity of Manipur.
Khwairakpam Pishakmacha, President of Sagoltongba Makha Leikai Social Welfare Association, S Sanjoy, Vice President of AMUCO, and M Pushpakanta took part in the awareness campaign. President of the United Rehabilitation Centre (URC), presided over the function as president. S Sanjoy, Vice President of AMUCO, and Laishram Krishnachandra Secretary of Publicity AMUCO led the Way Forward campaign as main speakers which aims to address and discuss various issues concerning Manipur’s future.
The “event” Way Forward” commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Norendro Thokchom, Secretary-General of AMUCO, who highlighted the importance of open discussions to find a way forward. Laishram Krishnachandra, the Secretary of Publicity of AMUCO, stressed the importance of public awareness about Manipur’s historical and cultural significance. He highlighted the discussions that took place regarding the memorandum with eight demands submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On May 3rd, an event transpired that underscored the concerns raised by AMUCO regarding Manipur’s territorial integrity and identity. It pertained to aggression against Manipur by Kuki Zo militants. AMUCO has consistently condemned such acts, categorizing them as acts of terrorism with the objective of creating a separate political space for the Kuki community by dividing Manipur along ethnic lines.
It was emphasized that individuals from the Kuki community, particularly those who came to Manipur from Myanmar without a deep understanding of Manipur’s history, are actively involved in this aggression. Their political agenda, focused on segregating Manipur, is causing turmoil in the state.
AMUCO reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding Manipur’s territorial integrity and identity. The organization has been built on principles of unity, inclusivity, and peaceful coexistence, transcending any sectarian divisions.
The event was organized by AMUCO in collaboration with its district units, the Imphal West District United Clubs’ Organisation (IWDUCO), and the Western Imphal United Clubs’ Organisation (WIUCO).
This “Way Forward” campaign is part of ongoing efforts to protect the heritage and unity of Manipur and ensure a peaceful future for the state.
