New York City (SPN) | The Met Gala 2023, one of the year’s most anticipated fashion events, will take place on Monday, May 1, in New York City.

The event is known for bringing together some of the biggest names in fashion and entertainment, who will gather at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to celebrate the Costume Institute’s upcoming exhibition.

This year, the exhibition will honor the late German designer Karl Lagerfeld, who passed away in 2019, by showcasing his legendary career as creative director of luxury fashion houses Chanel and Fendi.

The Met Gala’s dress code will be “in honor of Karl,” and attendees are expected to pay tribute to Lagerfeld’s iconic style, which often featured oversized, dark sunglasses.

To watch the Met Gala 2023 event, fans can tune in to Vogue’s Met Gala red carpet live stream on May 1 at 6:30 p.m. ET, which will be available on Vogue’s website, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

The broadcast will be co-hosted by La La Anthony, Derek Blasberg, Chloe Fineman, and Emma Chamberlain.

The event is known for its ultra-exclusive guest list, which is curated by Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue. Individual tickets reportedly cost $50,000, while an entire table at the event can run as high as $300,000.

This year’s co-chairs of the gala are actress Penélope Cruz, singer Dua Lipa, tennis star Roger Federer, and screenwriter/actress Michaela Coel.

The Met Gala guest list is famously kept under wraps, but sources have revealed that Kim Kardashian and at least one of her siblings will be in attendance.

Other A-list celebrities are expected to attend as well, including Rihanna, Billie Eilish, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift. Lagerfeld’s beloved cat, Choupette, has also reportedly been invited.

Although the Met Gala 2023 may be out of reach for most people, Lagerfeld’s exhibition will be open to the public at the Metropolitan Museum of Art from May 5 through July 16, 2023.
