Grievances of DIPR will be addressed on a priority basis – Dr Sapam Ranjan

Information and Public Relations Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh has stressed the need for strengthening and upgrading the existing systems and structure of the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), considering its increasing volume of responsibilities, and announced that chief minister N Biren has been consulted in this regard.

He was speaking at a Felicitation cum Interaction programme organised by the DIPR and DIPR Employee Association at the auditorium of DIPR, Head Office, Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal on Friday.

He said that DIPR is taking a big role to circulate information and awareness to the public. The department has become different from the past with its new initiatives and various responsibilities, he added.

He mentioned that the knowledge of the government’s sponsored welfare schemes and benefits has reached the outreach because of the fast-growing social media. He said that being a new minister in charge of IPR, the grievances of the department will be addressed on a priority basis. He advised proper maintenance of the new office building and surroundings.

He also informed that a proper policy and programmes will be framed for the development and smooth functioning of the department.

Commissioner IPR M Harekrishna, speaking as the guest of honour said that the narrative roles played by the department need to be circulated and made understood by others. There may be issues but they can be solved in an analytical way, he said. The sincerity and dedication of the employees of the department are required for the overall development, he added.

Speaking as president DIPR director H Balkrishna Singh said that DIPR is a nodal department for highlighting the policies and programmes of the government. The importance of the department has been acknowledged, he added.

The IPR minister released the Annual Administrative Report of the department after the inauguration of the Terrace Mini Garden of the department. He also inspected the different sections of the department.

Additional Director, IPR, W Phajatombi; deputy directors, officers and staff of DIPR were also present during the Felicitation cum Interaction programme.
