India mourns the loss of a true patriot, Constable (GD) Deepak Chingakham, a proud Meitei from Yairipok Yambem, Manipur, who made the supreme sacrifice on May 11, 2025, while serving with the Border Security Force (BSF) in the R S Pura sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Athouba Deepak Chingakham’s courage, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s frontiers embody the valor of the Meitei community and the spirit of India. His sacrifice is a beacon of inspiration, and his legacy will forever resonate in the heart of the nation.
Time and again, the Meitei community have stood at the forefront, defending the nation against threats, from insurgency to terrorism. Their courage, resilience, and loyalty have fortified India’s borders and strengthened its unity. Deepak Chingakham’s heroism is a shining example of this legacy, a testament to the community’s resolve to protect the nation at all costs. Yet, as we celebrate his courage, we are confronted with the tragic reality that his home state, Manipur, has been engulfed in violence since May 2023, plagued by relentless attacks from Kuki-Zo terrorists.
For over two years, Manipur has been a battleground, its people enduring unimaginable hardship as homes are burned, lives shattered, and communities torn apart. The Meitei community, despite facing the brunt of this terror, has shown extraordinary resilience. However, the continued violence, fueled by cross-border militant sanctuaries, demands urgent and decisive action. The central government’s response has been inadequate, leaving Manipur’s people to grapple with fear and loss. Deepak’s sacrifice demands the need for a robust strategy to dismantle these terrorist networks and restore peace to his beloved state.
There is a need for urgent call for action to honor Deepak Chingakham’s memory—not just with words, but with tangible steps to secure Manipur. The government must prioritize neutralizing the Kuki terrorist threat, strengthen border security, and ensure justice for the people of Manipur. The Meiteis, who have given so much to India, deserve a homeland free from fear and violence.
While we express our deepest sympathies to Deepak’s family, we recognize that words alone cannot ease their profound grief. We share in their sorrow and stand with them, honoring the memory of a son, a brother, a hero. Deepak’s life of service and his ultimate sacrifice will never be forgotten. His courage lives on, a guiding light for India and a reminder of the Meitei spirit’s unbreakable strength.
With utmost respect, we salute Constable Deepak Chingakham. India will forever hold you in gratitude and pride. Let your sacrifice inspire us to build a peaceful, secure Manipur and a stronger nation.
A true hero, forever in India’s heart.
